RUTH WAYTZ: MY CLIENTS
RUTH WAYTZ: MY CLIENTS
In 1991, Coop was creating album cover art for independent record labels. Without getting too descriptive, his annual income was in the low four figures. In June 2009 his paintings at Culver City’s Corey Helford Gallery sold for $30,000 each.
When it all started I said, “You need to make money while you sleep,” and starting with his first solo art show at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery (1993), I’ve been making that happen through licensing, commercial work, and gallery showings around the world.
In 1998 I created Coopstuff.com, which posted a profit immediately and has been up and running ever since. I didn’t write the code but I provide all content and maintenance for the site, manage the (about 500) products, write the blog, and supervise order fulfillment and customer service.
We did a top-to-bottom re-design in 2008, to wildly successful reviews and greatly increased sales.
Under the COOPSTUFF umbrella, I published COOP’s two best-selling art books (Devil’s Advocate and THE BIG FAT ONE), as well as all Coop silkscreen, litho, and giclee prints.
Beyond Coopstuff I brokered and supervised all licensing deals, handled trademarking, copyright registration and enforcement, arranged commercial jobs and booked gallery shows.
